The Exciting Arrival of the Authentic Red Apple iPhone 7 in Vietnam

The genuine red Apple iPhone 7 will soon be on the shelves in Vietnam

The long-awaited moment has finally arrived! On April 9th, the first genuine red iPhone 7 and 7 Plus models were unveiled to eager customers in Vietnam. This unexpected release by Apple in mid-March, accompanied by the 2017 iPad model, has created quite a buzz in the tech world.

A Warm Welcome

Customers gathered at a popular supermarket in Thai Ha on the morning of April 9th to get their hands on these stunning devices. Although the crowd was relatively small, the agents responsible for advertising reported an impressive number of clients. FPT Shop, for instance, received 1,200 reservations, with 700 customers making a deposit. Today, this reputable company will deliver around 200 units to customers in Hanoi.

The genuine red iPhone 7, 7 Plus started reaching customers from April 9.

The Preference for iPhone 7 Plus

Based on a quick analysis of retail systems, it appears that 75% of customers who made deposits opted for the iPhone 7 Plus, particularly the 128GB version. This preference for the Plus model comes as no surprise, given its consistent popularity across Vietnam. Priced similarly to other color variants, the authentic red iPhone 7 is available at 21.69 million dong for the 128GB version and 24.59 million dong for the 256GB version. Meanwhile, the iPhone 7 Plus is priced at 25.19 million dong and 27.99 million dong for the same capacities.

The Changing Landscape

Previously, a few hand-carried red iPhone 7 and 7 Plus (RED Product) models were available in Vietnam starting from March 22nd. However, their higher price compared to other colors and the anticipation for the genuine devices resulted in limited customer interest. Consequently, retailers had to reduce the price of these imported models. Even with the reductions, the portable red iPhones remained relatively expensive at 18.8 million dong for the iPhone 7 and 21.8 million dong for the iPhone 7 Plus, both in the 128GB variant.

Despite not achieving the same level of sales as in late 2016, the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus have maintained their position as the best-selling high-end smartphones in the market. The iPhone 7 Plus, in particular, has often claimed the top spot in the weekly report by GfK. However, with the return of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ duo to the Vietnamese market in May, the high-end mobile market is expected to experience some notable changes. The iPhone’s unique position may no longer be guaranteed.
